Pinterest Tries New AI-Powered Personalized Boards

Pinterest announced on Monday a new AI-powered upgrade to its boards, making them more personalized for users. The update introduces features like the AI-driven collage tool “Styled for You,” which helps users create outfits from their saved fashion Pins, and “Boards Made for You,” AI-curated boards tailored to individual preferences.

The “Styled for You” collages let users mix and match clothing and accessories based on their personal style. By tapping on items within a collage, users can swipe through AI-recommended Pins they’ve previously saved to experiment with different combinations.

Pinterest is also testing “Boards Made for You”—personalized boards curated using both editorial input and AI suggestions. These boards, highlighting trending styles, weekly outfit inspiration, and shoppable content, will appear in users’ home feeds and inboxes.

The company is initially rolling out these AI features in the U.S. and Canada, with a broader launch planned over the coming months.

According to Pinterest, these AI enhancements aim to transform boards from simple organizational tools into a more personalized way to discover, shop, and find outfit inspiration. This move aligns with Pinterest’s broader strategy to position itself as an “AI shopping assistant,” as stated by the CEO during the company’s Q2 earnings call. The platform has already integrated AI in various forms, including AI-powered recommendations and visual search capabilities.

Despite expanding its use of AI, Pinterest is simultaneously working to limit AI-generated content on its platform. In April, the company announced plans to label AI-generated and AI-altered images. It also introduced user controls to reduce the visibility of AI-generated Pins in feeds.

In addition to these AI experiments, Pinterest is introducing new tabs to help users better organize their Pins. Accessible via user profiles, these tabs will roll out globally in the coming months.

One new tab, called “Make It Yours,” will recommend fashion and home decor products based on a user’s saved Pins. The “More Ideas” tab will surface related Pins across categories like beauty, recipes, and art. Finally, the “All Saves” tab will make it easier for users to locate all their previously saved Pins.
