Today, OpenAI announced two major updates for Sora 2 via its official X account: Pro users can now utilize the "Storyboard" feature on the web platform, while all users can generate videos up to 15 seconds long on both the app and web interface. Pro users benefit further by being able to generate videos up to 25 seconds in length on the web—previously limited to 10 seconds for standard users and 15 seconds for Pro users.

Sora 2 offers significantly improved video realism compared to its predecessor and introduces new audio generation capabilities. Building upon its earlier image generation technology, Sora 2 allows users to record their own video and voice in one take via the newly released app, enabling them to make appearances—either as themselves or others—in the generated videos.

According to data from app intelligence provider Appfigures, since OpenAI's video generation app Sora reached the top of the U.S. App Store charts, its iOS performance during the first week surpassed that of ChatGPT. Specifically, Sora recorded approximately 627,000 iOS downloads within its first seven days, compared to ChatGPT’s 606,000 downloads during its debut week.
