Elon Musk has officially announced that xAI's Grok 4 AI model is now freely accessible to global users. The Tesla CEO made this declaration today, marking a significant step in AI democratization.

The platform offers basic free access with daily query limits. For heavy usage, xAI's X account clarifies users can switch between "Auto" mode - which automatically routes complex queries to Grok 4 - and "Expert" mode for full control over Grok 4 capabilities. Notably, the company is providing what they describe as a "generous" usage quota (actually five Grok 4 sessions every 12 hours) during the introductory period.

Previously, Musk claimed Grok 4 demonstrates doctoral-level academic performance. Official benchmarks confirm its competitiveness in real-time processing speed, reasoning capabilities, and advanced visual analysis against top models from OpenAI and Anthropic.

Grok 4 features several proprietary advantages including: enhanced logical reasoning and text generation through xAI's Colossus supercomputer training; natural human-like vocal characteristics; internet culture comprehension including meme/idiom detection; and real-time web browsing functionality for contextually relevant responses.
