ByteDance's Volcano Engine has recently unveiled a new universal translation large model named Doubao-Seed-Translation (Doubao Translation Model). This model supports mutual translation across 28 languages, including major languages such as Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, and Russian.

The official claims that the Doubao Translation Model supports translation among dozens of languages, delivering accurate, natural, and fluent translations. Its Chinese-English translation performance approaches that of Deepseek-R1, while its general multilingual translation capabilities are on par with or surpass those of GPT-4o and Gemini-2.5-Pro. The model features strong adaptability to various scenarios, enabling precise processing of complex contexts such as office communication, classical poetry, internet slang, and technical or medical terminology, with output that feels natural and free of “translationese.” It supports a 4K context window and 3K output length, automatically identifying the source language—users need only specify the target language for efficient invocation, significantly enhancing cross-language collaboration and cultural understanding efficiency.

Pricing for the Doubao Translation Model is also highly competitive, costing just 1.20 yuan per million input characters and 3.60 yuan for output.
