Google's AI assistant Gemini is coming to your television. On Monday, the company announced that it is bringing Gemini to Google TV, allowing TV users to engage in natural and seamless conversations with the AI.

When fully rolled out, Gemini's expansion to this new platform will extend Google's AI capabilities to over 300 million active Google TV and other Android TV operating system devices.

Regarding TV-related inquiries, Google suggests that Gemini AI can help individuals with varying interests find shows they all enjoy or assist in understanding what happened in previous seasons of a popular show you may have missed. You can also ask Gemini to help locate a movie or show even if you don't remember the title, or inquire about reviews for a specific title to determine whether it’s worth watching.

In addition, since it's powered by Gemini, you can ask questions on any topic, just like using an AI chatbot on a smartphone.

For example, children and parents can use the AI for homework assistance or brainstorming ideas for school projects, families can use Gemini to plan their next vacation, or individual users can leverage the AI to learn new skills, and much more.

The company emphasized that the addition of Gemini does not mean you can't continue doing what you could before with the (non-AI) Google Assistant integration. Google confirmed that those commands will still work as usual.

Gemini is beginning its rollout on the TCL QM9K series today.

Later this year, Gemini will come to the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn 4K Pro, 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models, as well as the 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models. Additional features will be added over time.
