Lenskart has announced plans to open its upcoming AI-powered camera smart glasses, B by Lenskart, to India’s developer ecosystem. This move will enable consumer applications and independent developers to integrate with the new device, fostering app development across diverse sectors such as fitness, food delivery, and entertainment.

The initiative is part of Lenskart’s broader strategy to build India’s first full-stack wearable ecosystem by integrating hardware, software, and artificial intelligence. The company confirmed that the smart glasses—designed and manufactured in India—will launch by the end of December.

“This step will make our AI and camera technologies accessible to leading consumer apps and independent developers,” Lenskart said in a statement.

B by Lenskart smart glasses are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset and feature an integrated Sony camera for hands-free photo and video capture.

Equipped with an AI assistant driven by Gemini 2.5 Live, the glasses support voice commands for payments, translation, and health tracking. Weighing just 40 grams, the device is lighter than most competing smart glasses on the market.

Lenskart aims to leverage its extensive retail network and control over manufacturing to position itself as a leader in India’s emerging AI wearable market. The company has also invested in extended reality and AI startups like AjnaLens to strengthen its technology ecosystem.

Industry analysts project the global smart glasses market to reach $5 billion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of 30%, with India among the fastest-growing regions.

Lenskart emphasized its continued focus on crafting eyewear that blends comfort with innovation, reaffirming its core philosophy: “Smart glasses are glasses first.”
