Technology giant Amazon is planning to establish a new team within its consumer products division, focusing on autonomous AI technology.

Amazon announced this new research and development team during an event on Wednesday. According to CNBC, the team will be housed in Lab126, Amazon's hardware R&D division responsible for developing tech products including the Amazon Echo and Kindle.

The reason for situating this autonomous AI team within the hardware R&D center could be that Amazon wants them to develop an autonomous AI framework that can be applied to the company's robotics technology and enhance functionalities for warehouse robots.
