X Company Unveils Aurora, New AI Image Generator with Enhanced Realism

2024-12-09

X Corporation has introduced "Aurora," an advanced AI image generation model for its Grok platform, reportedly delivering more lifelike images compared to Grok’s earlier generators. As per TechCrunch, Aurora appears to have relaxed restrictions on the types of content it can produce, aligning with Grok’s other models. This innovative tool is accessible under the “Grok 2 + Aurora Beta” section, where users may encounter a paywall requiring an X Premium subscription after several attempts.

Evidence suggests that Aurora is capable of creating visual representations of copyrighted characters and notable personalities, including icons like Mickey Mouse and depictions of Donald Trump with violent effects. However, it imposes restrictions on generating nude imagery. These relatively permissive content guidelines are consistent with the performance exhibited by Grok’s earlier models.

Additionally, Chris Park, a representative from X Corporation, has announced that Aurora is now accessible to users. TechCrunch highlighted another example shared by an X platform user, where Aurora was used to generate images of celebrities Ray Romano and Adam Sandler. While these visuals appear highly authentic, they display apparent inconsistencies in human anatomy and overall coherence.
