Clipto, a generative AI company focused on developing AI-native multimodal operating systems, today announced a new funding round that has propelled its valuation beyond $250 million.
This latest investment follows a series of consecutive funding rounds since July 2025, including Pre-A, Pre-A+, and Pre-A++ stages. While the exact amount of the current round remains undisclosed, the company previously raised $4 million in venture capital. The recent financing includes participation from HSG, GL Ventures, EnvisionX Capital, Palm Drive Capital, Hans Tung, Lu Zhang, and 522 Ventures.
Founded in 2023, Clipto builds foundational multimodal models and agent-level capabilities designed to operate entirely on user devices. This on-device approach enhances security and privacy, enabling creative and knowledge workers to efficiently process, organize, and search libraries of text, audio, images, and video without relying on cloud infrastructure.
The company describes its AI-powered private media management as "the final missing piece in content creation workflows."
Clipto’s AI platform allows users to instantly search media by face, conversation, or descriptive keywords. Within seconds, individuals can retrieve relevant text, videos, and images based on ideas or phrases, streamlining research and content production. The software supports audio-to-text and video-to-text transcription and translation, and automatically generates transcripts for platforms like YouTube and TikTok, simplifying content repurposing and management.
For students and professionals, it offers templated transcriptions tailored to meetings, business, finance, legal, and medical fields. It also provides a suite of converters and downloaders to capture audio and video from websites for local transcription.
Clipto has developed over 10 proprietary multimodal AI models engineered to exceed current state-of-the-art benchmarks in accuracy and performance. These models are optimized to enable large-scale, real-time inference directly on laptops and mobile devices.
As more professionals adopt AI tools, concerns around data privacy and operational costs continue to grow. According to Clipto, on-device AI is transitioning from a luxury to a necessity. At the same time, the computing industry is racing to develop more powerful GPUs and NPUs capable of running advanced AI models locally.
Clipto AI is currently available as a web-based platform and a native macOS application. Transcription services can be accessed via the web interface, while the dedicated Mac app delivers robust offline functionality.
