Google Introduces New Automated Workflow Methods for Opal

2026-02-25

On Tuesday, Google unveiled a new method for creating automated workflows within its vibe-coding platform, Opal. The company explained that the newly introduced agent feature empowers users to construct mini-applications capable of planning and executing tasks through simple text prompts.

Leveraging the Gemini 3 Flash model, this functionality intelligently selects the appropriate tools to carry out specific tasks. For example, it can utilize Google Sheets to maintain memory across different sessions, such as managing shopping lists for e-commerce applications. The new agent automatically generates and plans the subsequent steps required to complete a task.

Google emphasized that these agents are designed for local interaction, meaning they will request user input or present options to determine the next action if additional information is needed. The company claims that this enhancement enables users without any technical background to build complex workflows within their applications.

The vibe-coding tool Opal was initially launched for users in the United States in July 2025. This platform allows anyone to create mini web applications or remix existing ones. By October 2025, Google expanded Opal's availability to 15 countries, including Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, and Singapore. In December, the tech giant integrated the tool into the Gemini web application, permitting users to create custom applications via a visual editor without writing a single line of code.

Beyond Google, numerous other startups are developing tools that enable users to build applications using natural language prompts. While Lovable and Replit remain among the most popular choices, other emerging startups such as Wabi by the former founder of Replika, Emergent backed by SoftBank and Lightspeed, and Rocket.new supported by Accel are also gaining significant traction in the market.
