Musk Claims Optimus Robot Will Contribute About 80% of Tesla's Future Value

2025-09-02

Tesla unveiled the fourth iteration of its "Master Plan" over the U.S. Labor Day holiday, spotlighting the potential of its Optimus humanoid robot, while also revealing a promotional video featuring its Cyber SUV prototype for the first time.

Currently, no official details about the vehicle have been disclosed, and it remains uncertain whether the model will proceed to mass production. However, the video indicates that Tesla is actively exploring this avenue.

In a response today to @WholeMarsBlog, Elon Musk suggested that he believes 80% of Tesla's future value will stem from Optimus.

According to Tesla's roadmap, the robot is expected to achieve commercial application by early 2026. However, market sentiment remains divided: data from the prediction trading platform Kalshi suggests that traders estimate only a 40% chance of Tesla's Optimus launching before 2027.

Meanwhile, Tesla has abandoned further in-house development of its Dojo supercomputer, opting instead to rely on NVIDIA chips for training its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. The upcoming AI5 chip is also expected to power the Optimus robot.
