Google Meet Launches AI-Powered Virtual Makeup Feature

2025-10-15

Google Meet has finally introduced its AI-powered virtual makeup filter, a feature perfect for days when you want to join meetings without applying makeup. This new addition enables Google Meet to compete with other video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, which already offer similar virtual makeup capabilities.

Google Meet now offers 12 different makeup styles that users can access under the "Portrait Enhancement" settings in the "Appearance" section. Although this feature was first introduced in 2023, it includes enhancements such as skin tone smoothing, under-eye brightening, and eye whitening.

A notable advantage of this feature is that the virtual makeup remains consistent regardless of how users move on screen, making the effect look more natural. For instance, even if a user is holding a coffee cup, the filter will stay on their face and not shift onto the cup.

In addition, the feature is turned off by default and can be activated either before or during a video call. Once a makeup style is selected, Google Meet saves the preference for future meetings, allowing users to quickly apply the same look.

The new AI-powered feature started rolling out on October 8 across both mobile and web versions.
