Google has officially released the NotebookLM Android app one day earlier than planned. The release came just ahead of the company's announcement at Google I/O 2025.

Since its debut in 2023, this AI-powered note-taking and research assistant was only accessible via desktop. Now, Google has made the service available for use anytime, anywhere.

The iOS version is expected to launch on Tuesday.

NotebookLM aims to help users better understand complex information by providing smart summaries and the ability to ask questions about documents and other materials.

The Android app offers an audio overview feature, which is an AI-generated podcast based on source materials. This audio summary supports background playback and offline use.

The Android app also allows users to create new notebooks and view existing ones. Users can upload new content from their devices and access materials already added to each notebook.

The app provides both light and dark modes based on the device’s system settings.
