Google Launches Gemini AI-Powered Vids App to Enhance Video Presentation Creation

2024-11-11

Recently, Google officially unveiled Vids, an application powered by Gemini AI technology that enables users to swiftly generate video presentations by inputting prompts. The key features of Vids consist of the automatic insertion of stock video clips, script generation, and the production of AI-generated voiceovers, eliminating the need for users to perform narration themselves.

It is reported that Vids is intended to assist users in transforming customer support articles into videos, producing training materials, disseminating company announcements, and creating meeting summaries, among other uses. For organizations with existing Workspace access, Vids will be available by default. However, Google has indicated that starting in 2026, certain features such as "Create for me" and AI voiceovers may encounter usage limitations.

Originally announced in April of this year, the Vids application allows users to drag and drop relevant documents, slides, voice narrations, and video recordings onto the application's timeline to create presentation videos for colleagues to view. The application supports multiple languages; however, currently, AI features such as "Create for me" and synchronized reading prompts are restricted to English.

The launch of Vids commenced on November 7th, and for some users, it may take more than 15 days to access the application. This rollout period ensures the gradual adoption and stability of the app.
