Read moreAs capital flows back into the artificial intelligence sector, Nvidia crossed a historic milestone on April 25, officially surpassing a $5 trillion market capitalization. The stock climbed 4.3% to $208.27, with its intraday valuation briefly touching $5.12 trillion—the highest level since October of last year. This robust rally further solidified its lead over other tech giants like Apple.
The surge in valuation is fundamentally anchored in Nvidia's absolute dominance within the AI computing infrastructure landscape. Its high-performance GPU lineup, particularly the accelerators engineered for data centers, has become the core engine for training and deploying large-scale AI models. As cloud giants like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google continue to heavily invest in AI infrastructure, demand for Nvidia's silicon remains insatiable. These industry leaders collectively spend tens of billions annually expanding their computational networks, with their technology stacks deeply integrated into Nvidia’s comprehensive hardware and software ecosystem.
Financial metrics further underscore this momentum. In its latest earnings release for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, Nvidia reported a record-breaking quarterly revenue of approximately $68.1 billion, representing a 73% year-over-year jump. Full-year revenue reached $215.9 billion, marking a 65% annual growth rate. Quarterly net income surged to roughly $43 billion, nearly doubling profit figures while sustaining an exceptional gross margin hovering around 75%.
The primary catalyst behind these stellar results is undoubtedly the data center division, which has firmly established itself as the company's financial backbone. In the most recent quarter, the data center segment alone generated over $62 billion in revenue, accounting for the vast majority of total sales. On an annual basis, data center revenue climbed to a range of $190 billion to $197 billion, reflecting a year-over-year increase of nearly 70%.
Market data indicates that since late 2022, Nvidia’s stock has appreciated by more than 14 times. This bullish sentiment has rapidly spilled over into the broader semiconductor supply chain, propelling Intel to surge over 20% in a single trading session—its largest one-day gain in decades. AMD has also posted substantial gains, repeatedly recording double-digit daily increases.
