Oura Launches Exclusive AI Model for Women's Health

2026-02-25

Oura officially unveiled its first proprietary AI model this Tuesday, empowering its chatbot, Oura Advisor, to deliver personalized insights focused on women's health. The company stated that this model addresses reproductive health concerns spanning the entire lifecycle, from early menstruation to menopause.

The new model is being launched through Oura Labs, the company's hub for selective experimental features within the Oura application.

Oura noted that the new model draws upon established medical standards, research, and knowledge sources reviewed by licensed clinicians and women's health experts on their internal team. It also integrates bio-signals and long-term trends to provide personalized guidance.

As more people turn to AI chatbots for health guidance ranging from cycle changes to perimenopause symptoms, Oura emphasized the need for a model designed specifically for women.

"This customized model represents a fundamental shift in our responsible deployment of AI in the health sector to meet member needs," said Dr. Ricky Bloomfield, Chief Medical Officer at Oura, in a press release. "Women's health is too complex—and often overlooked—to rely on one-size-fits-all systems. By creating a model designed for women, grounded in credible clinical science and real-world biological data, we are setting the standard for how to build and scale responsible intelligence, combining rigorous science with Oura's unique and powerful longitudinal life data."

The launch of the new women's health AI model comes as Oura's Chief Business Officer, Dorothy Kilroy, told TechCrunch last October that the company's fastest-growing user segment was not fitness enthusiasts, but women in their early twenties.

When users ask Oura Advisor about women's health issues, the chatbot prompts the new model to reference its research and knowledge sources while analyzing relevant bio-signals such as sleep, activity, cycle and pregnancy data, and stress.

The company pointed out that the new model is intentionally designed to be non-dismissive, reassuring, and emotionally supportive. However, it is not designed to be a doctor, and users should not use the chatbot for diagnosis or treatment plans.

Oura stated that the model is fully hosted on infrastructure controlled by Oura, and conversation content is never shared or sold.

Users who wish to access the new model can opt into Oura Labs by navigating to the dropdown menu in the top-left corner of the Oura application.
