Google announced an update to its Gemini 2.5 Pro preview model on Thursday, claiming that the model performs significantly better in certain coding tasks.

This "updated preview version" is based on an upgraded release. About a month ago, Google announced Gemini 2.5 Pro. The company stated that the model will be fully rolled out "in a few weeks" and is now available starting today on its AI development platforms AI Studio, Vertex AI, as well as in the Gemini app.

"[Gemini 2.5 Pro] continues to excel in programming, leading in challenging coding benchmarks," Google wrote in a blog post. "It also demonstrates top-tier performance in highly challenging benchmarks that evaluate models' mathematical, scientific, knowledge, and reasoning capabilities."

What are the new changes? Google says they have made improvements based on feedback from the earlier 2.5 Pro version, enhancing the model's style and structure. The company claims that 2.5 Pro can now "deliver more creative responses in a better format."
