10Web is a company that leverages generative artificial intelligence technology to build websites on the open-source WordPress platform. Today, the company has launched an application programming interface (API) option that developers can use to integrate website generation capabilities into existing applications and workflows.
For instance, the API allows marketers to instantly create a dedicated website during promotional campaigns. Approximately 80% of 10Web's clients are small businesses, with the remaining being primarily web developers.
10Web replaces traditional WordPress website builders with a chat interface where users can specify layouts, images, and functionalities in natural language. Generative AI helps in creating and editing unique page structures, business-specific designs, content, features, and visuals. The generated websites are customizable and can incorporate e-commerce functionalities through WooCommerce, an open-source WordPress e-commerce plugin.
"The final websites produced are mobile-friendly, search-optimized, and hosted by us," said Arto Minasyan, founder and CEO of 10Web. "We handle all technical aspects such as backups and security." 10Web offers hosting plans starting at $10 per month, but users can also migrate completed sites to other internet service providers. The API usage pricing starts at five dollars per site.
10Web states that its platform uses a set of specialized AI agents, each trained to perform specific tasks within the website builder. These agents are powered by large language models from OpenAI, Anthropic PBC, and Google LLC.
Minasyan stated that 10Web can manage almost all aspects of website design and functionality via the chat interface. "Users can prompt adding a form with specified fields, make it mobile-friendly, and have the form input sent to their email," he said. "They can take a screenshot of a website they like, and we generate the code."
10Web positions itself as a more open alternative compared to popular website builders like Shopify and Squarespace, which offer similar features on proprietary platforms. "WordPress and open source empower users and give them ownership," Minasyan said. "We also rely on the WordPress product ecosystem. Users can explore 60,000 plugins."
WordPress is used by 61% of websites using known content management systems and 43.5% of all websites. This data is according to W3Techs, a service provided by W3Q-Success DI Gelbmann GmbH.
Minasyan envisions the API being utilized by software-as-a-service platforms for integrating website creation into their products, marketing platforms looking to embed website creation and workflow, and developers seeking to accelerate website delivery.
Since its establishment in 2020, 10Web claims to have generated over two million websites on its platform. The company has raised $5 million in seed funding and states that it has become profitable.
