Recently, Amazon's artificial intelligence division has demonstrated exceptional growth, astounding the entire tech industry. During a conference call with analysts on Thursday, CEO Andy Jassy disclosed that the company's AI business is expanding at a rate three times faster than its cloud services during the same period.

As a seasoned executive who previously led Amazon Web Services (AWS), Jassy expressed significant surprise at the rapid advancement of the AI sector. He remarked, "We initially believed AWS's growth was already impressive, but the performance of our AI business is even more remarkable."

Amazon's third-quarter earnings report released on Thursday further underscores the robust momentum of this segment. The report highlighted a 19% increase in cloud revenue, reaching over $27 billion. Driven by a surge in market demand for AI technologies, the department's sales have accelerated their growth trajectory.

Jassy also noted during the call that Amazon's AI business has achieved triple-digit percentage growth. He anticipates that once the company establishes sufficient infrastructure to support this burgeoning demand, the growth rate will accelerate even further. He candidly stated, "Today, almost everyone's supply capacity cannot meet this enormous market demand."

Additionally, Microsoft echoed similar sentiments during Wednesday's earnings call, indicating that the demand for AI technologies has far exceeded the company's available capacity. This perspective aligns with Jassy's comments, further highlighting the rapid evolution of AI technologies.

In response to this substantial market demand, Amazon has developed its own AI chips, including Trainium for training models and Inferentia for running these models. These chips aim to bridge the gap between AI hardware demand and supply, providing more robust hardware support for the company's AI operations.

Jassy revealed that the second-generation chip, Trainium 2, will begin to launch in the coming weeks. He stated, "We have already attracted significant customer interest and believe this new product will inject even more robust momentum into our AI business."
