OpenAI recently announced that its annual recurring revenue has reached $10 billion, marking a significant increase from approximately $5.5 billion the previous year.
This figure encompasses income generated from the company’s consumer products, ChatGPT business solutions, and its API platform, according to a spokesperson for OpenAI. The organization now boasts over 500 million weekly active users and has secured 3 million paying enterprise customers.
This financial milestone comes just two and a half years after the launch of its widely popular conversational AI platform, ChatGPT. Looking ahead, OpenAI aims to achieve an annual revenue target of $125 billion by 2029.
The company is under growing pressure to accelerate revenue generation. OpenAI spends billions annually on talent acquisition and recruitment to further develop its AI technologies while ensuring sufficient infrastructure for training and operating its AI systems. To date, OpenAI has not disclosed specifics regarding its operational costs or whether it is nearing profitability.
