Cursor Annual Revenue Reportedly Exceeds $2 Billion

2026-03-03

AI coding assistant Cursor has reportedly achieved an annualized revenue exceeding $2 billion. This estimate is based on multiplying the most recent monthly income by twelve. According to a source cited by Bloomberg, the four-year-old startup has seen its revenue growth rate double over the past three months.

This disclosure appears to be a response to recent skepticism. Last week, a viral tweet questioned whether Cursor's growth momentum was slowing, noting that several prominent developers were switching to competitor tools, particularly Anthropic's Claude Code.

Established in 2022, Cursor initially focused on selling its product to individual developers. However, over the past year, the company has shifted its focus towards attracting large enterprise clients. Bloomberg reports that these customers now account for approximately 60% of its revenue.

Although some individual developers and small startups have moved to Claude Code, which is perceived as more price-competitive, this churn seems to be offset by high-spending enterprise clients who tend to engage in long-term partnerships.

In addition to Claude Code, OpenAI's coding tool Codex is also vying for share in the rapidly growing AI-assisted software development market. Other startups in this sector include Replit, Cognition, and Lovable.

Cursor's recent valuation stands at $29.3 billion. This follows a $2.3 billion funding round conducted in November, co-led by Accel and Coatue.
