Google Deepmind has upgraded its specialized thinking mode "Gemini 3 Deep Think" and made it available as an API through the Gemini app and the Vertex AI early access program. This upgrade targets complex tasks in science, research, and engineering.

Google AI Ultra subscribers can access Deep Think via the Gemini app, while developers and researchers can enroll in a separate API plan. According to Google Deepmind, this model ranks at the top in multiple major benchmarks:

Although Deep Think excels in logic and programming, its lead in MMMU-Pro has notably narrowed: its score is 81.5%, slightly above Gemini 3 Pro Preview's 81.0%. This suggests the thinking upgrade focuses more on abstract reasoning than visual processing. Deep Think also achieved gold-medal-level results in the 2025 Physics and Chemistry Olympiads.
