Dell Technologies has recently deployed tens of thousands of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) on a large scale to fully support Elon Musk's supercomputer AI project in Memphis. This move highlights Dell's strategic expansion in the AI sector.

"We started from scratch and successfully deployed tens of thousands of GPUs in just a few months," Jeff Clark, Chief Operating Officer of Dell Technologies, proudly stated in an interview on Thursday. "This GPU cluster is continuously expanding, demonstrating our unique way of leading the industry."

Elon Musk's startup, xAI, is building a massive facility aimed at enhancing computational capabilities to stand out in the race to develop AI-based tools and secure a leading position. On Wednesday, the Memphis Metropolitan Chamber announced that NVIDIA, Dell, and AMD – key hardware partners for the xAI project – will establish operational bases in the city to collaboratively drive innovation in AI technology.

This year, Dell, the technology giant, saw significant business growth due to strong market demand for high-performance servers equipped with NVIDIA GPUs. Particularly, in the quarter ending November 1, Dell shipped AI-focused servers worth up to $2.9 billion, showcasing its robust strength and market demand in the AI field.

The Memphis Chamber also revealed that Musk's supercomputer facility will house at least one million GPUs, a scale that is truly impressive. "Our goal is to secure our rightful share of the market," Clark stated, though he did not disclose the exact number of servers or infrastructure Dell is providing for the project. However, Dell's proactive deployment and significant investment undoubtedly offer strong support for Musk's AI initiatives.
