Figure AI launched its latest general-purpose humanoid robot, Figure 03, on Thursday, October 9 — aimed at everyday household tasks like folding clothes, washing dishes, and tidying rooms.
Figure AI envisions a humanoid robot capable of handling both domestic chores and industrial operations. The company has recently drawn significant attention from tech giants, securing $1 billion in funding in September 2025, reaching a valuation of $39 billion. Its investor list includes major names such as NVIDIA, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Jeff Bezos.
Technologically, Figure AI previously used models from OpenAI but has now transitioned to its proprietary Helix neural network system. This system mimics human cognitive architecture and is divided into three components:
- “System Zero” handles low-level reflexive responses like balance, ensuring the robot remains stable and walks steadily in complex environments;
- “System One” functions similarly to the human nervous system, translating high-level commands into precise motor controls up to 200 times per second;
- “System Two” serves as the logical brain, using open-source AI models to interpret scenes, reason, and make decisions.
Thanks to this proprietary system, Figure 03 not only responds to voice commands but also perceives and understands its surroundings in real time — enabling it to perform complex actions autonomously without pre-programmed scripts.
In terms of hardware, Figure 03 stands at 5 feet 6 inches (approximately 1.68 meters) tall and weighs 132 pounds (about 60 kilograms). On a full charge, it can operate continuously for up to 5 hours and recharges wirelessly via a dedicated platform.
To enhance its environmental interaction, Figure 03 features embedded cameras in each palm. This design allows close-range visual feedback even when the main camera is obstructed — such as when reaching into a cabinet — enabling more accurate and adaptive real-time control during object manipulation.
According to the official demo video, Figure 03 can skillfully perform various household tasks including watering plants, delivering food, folding clothes, and organizing rooms. Brett Adcock, founder and CEO of Figure AI, emphasized on social media that all actions in the demo were performed autonomously without remote human intervention.
Brett Adcock remains highly optimistic about the future of humanoid robots. He predicts that within the next decade, the world’s largest company will be a robotics firm, with humanoid robots becoming common household items and billions deployed into the global workforce — spanning healthcare, service industries, and even space exploration.
He also believes that general-purpose robotics technology will be cracked within 18 to 24 months. Figure AI is now in fierce competition with companies like Tesla’s Optimus and China’s Unitree, all striving to capture a share of what Adcock estimates as a $40 trillion global labor market.
