Meta has announced that its AI chatbot, Meta AI, will officially launch in six countries: Brazil, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Paraguay. This announcement was made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his WhatsApp channel.
Meta stated that in addition to the aforementioned countries, Meta AI plans to gradually expand to other nations, including those in the Middle East. Upon completing this expansion phase, Meta AI will be available in 43 countries and support over a dozen languages.
The upcoming regions of deployment include Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Yemen. This expansion will also introduce support for Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese languages.
Currently, Meta AI is accessible on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger apps, and the Meta.ai website.
At last month's Meta Connect event, Zuckerberg revealed that Meta AI has nearly 500 million global users. He anticipates that by the end of this year, the chatbot will become the most widely used assistant worldwide.
During the second-quarter earnings call, Meta CFO Susan Li stated that India is Meta AI's largest market, primarily due to WhatsApp's user base exceeding 500 million in the country.
Last month, Meta introduced new features to Meta AI, such as celebrity voice and lip-sync translation. Additionally, the company expanded the generative AI-based "Imagine" feature on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, allowing users to create photos using natural language prompts. Now, Meta AI can also understand the content of users' photos, provide relevant information, and even perform edits.
