Perplexity is launching its AI-powered browser on Android. The new Comet app is now available for download and offers many of the same features as its desktop counterpart, including the ability to summon Perplexity’s built-in AI assistant while browsing.
It stands among the first major AI browsers to arrive on mobile. ChatGPT Atlas remains exclusive to macOS, while Google has integrated Gemini into both desktop and mobile versions of Chrome—though it functions more like an extension than a full-fledged AI browsing experience. Comet initially debuted on desktop in July for Perplexity Max subscribers and rolled out more broadly last month.
Mirroring its desktop functionality, the Android version of Comet allows users to engage with content via voice mode in chat tabs and request AI-generated summaries of what they’re viewing. Currently, browsing history and bookmarks cannot be synced between mobile and desktop versions, but Perplexity spokesperson Beejoli Shah told The Verge that this capability is slated for release “within the next few weeks.”
Perplexity is also working to bring additional Comet features to Android, such as full-agent voice mode and a native password manager. In the meantime, Shah noted that users can still leverage Android’s built-in password management within the browser.
