Prime Video Tests AI Dubbing Technology for Some Movies and TV Shows

2025-03-06

Prime Video is currently experimenting with AI-assisted dubbing services for select licensed movies and TV shows. This news was announced by the Amazon-owned streaming service on Wednesday.

According to Prime Video, this new trial will offer AI-assisted dubbing in English and Latin American Spanish, combining AI technology with human localization experts to "ensure quality control," the company explained.

Initially, the service will be available for 12 previously undubbed titles. These include the Spanish animated film "El Cid: La Leyenda," the family-friendly drama "Mi Mamá Lora," and the independent film "Long Lost."

AI-based dubbing is gaining popularity in the entertainment industry as it helps make content more accessible to a wider audience. Several streaming giants have already started utilizing this technology.

For instance, Deepdub, a company specializing in AI dubbing, lists Paramount+ among its clients. YouTube has also invested heavily in this area, recently launching an automatic dubbing feature that allows creators to translate their videos into multiple languages.

Prime Video has already introduced several AI-powered features to enhance the viewing experience, including "X-Ray Recaps," which summarizes entire seasons and episodes, and "Dialogue Boost," which improves the clarity of potentially hard-to-hear dialogue audio.
