Google has launched Google Skills, a new online learning platform designed to equip learners with foundational artificial intelligence and technical competencies. The initiative consolidates content from Google Cloud, Google DeepMind, Grow with Google, and Google for Education into a unified hub offering nearly 3,000 courses, hands-on labs, and certifications.
“Demand for AI expertise is higher than ever, driving the next wave of innovation and productivity,” said Karen Dahut, CEO of Google Public Sector. “Google Skills is built to help everyone—from students to business leaders—learn and validate their capabilities in AI and other emerging technologies.”
The platform features flexible learning pathways. Beginners can start with entry-level offerings like Google AI Essentials, while developers and AI researchers can dive into advanced materials such as DeepMind’s Foundations of AI Research. Bite-sized, focused modules—including AI Boost Bites—deliver key insights in as little as ten minutes.
Leaders can also benefit from specialized courses like “AI Learning Strategies for the Future,” which incorporates insights from executives at companies such as Telus and Deutsche Bank.
Google Skills emphasizes experiential learning, with labs powered by Gemini Code Assist. Certification options range from skill badges and entry-level credentials to full professional certifications. To boost engagement, the platform incorporates gamified elements like streak tracking and achievement sharing.
Designed to close the skills gap and support workforce development, Google Skills is backed by a skills-based hiring initiative involving more than 150 employers. Graduates of Google Career Certificates gain direct pathways to job opportunities, with companies like Jack Henry already leveraging the program to recruit qualified talent effectively.
Google Skills is freely accessible worldwide to students, developers, higher education institutions, government programs, and nonprofit organizations. Google Cloud customers receive full access to the on-demand content library, and developers can apply for 35 complimentary monthly credits for hands-on labs.
