Google is enhancing Gmail's search functionality by introducing an optional AI-powered upgrade aimed at boosting users' email retrieval efficiency.
The revamped search feature no longer sorts results solely based on chronological order and keyword relevance. Instead, the new system incorporates additional factors, such as how frequently an email has been accessed recently, the most-clicked emails, and interactions with frequent contacts. These updates were detailed in a post on Google's official blog, The Keyword.
This "most relevant" search result option is currently being rolled out globally to users with personal Google accounts. It is accessible whether users are browsing Gmail via a web browser or using the Android and iOS Gmail apps. However, Google clarified that this new feature does not replace the traditional search method. Users can toggle between the classic time-based search results and the new relevance-based results at their convenience.
