Earlier this year, Microsoft launched its initial lineup of Surface laptops equipped with Copilot AI. According to the latest report from Windows Central, the remaining products in this series are expected to receive updates in 2025.
The report highlights that the upcoming Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models are nearing release. These devices are likely to be powered by Intel's Lunar Lake processors, transforming them into Copilot Plus PCs with AI functionalities, similar to the current Snapdragon versions. Notably, a potential prototype was unveiled in October this year. Previously, Microsoft did not extend the Copilot label and associated features to the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 due to Intel's Meteor Lake chip's NPU underperformance. Consequently, the next-generation Surface devices will become the first in the Surface range to feature Intel chips along with the Copilot designation. Additionally, the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are expected to incorporate anti-glare screen coatings, while the Laptop versions may introduce enhanced card readers and 5G options.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that the Surface Laptop Studio will be upgraded from the current 13th-generation Intel chips to a new model potentially utilizing Intel or AMD processors. In any case, users expect improved battery life compared to the current models, as indicated by existing model reviews. Meanwhile, Microsoft has confirmed to Windows Central that the Surface Studio 2 Plus all-in-one desktop will be discontinued, which implies that the release of a Copilot Plus version in the short term is unlikely.
Finally, reports indicate the launch of a new Surface device with an approximately 11-inch display. This product is said to be a hybrid of the Surface Go and Laptop Go, featuring high-end components and powered by the Snapdragon X Plus chipset.
