Chrome Extension Auto-Fill for Passports, Driver's Licenses, and Vehicle Details

2025-11-05

Chrome is rolling out an upgrade aimed at reducing the hassle of filling out online forms. Google has introduced a new enhanced autofill feature that goes beyond just handling addresses and passwords.

In an official statement, the company said this update will make Chrome “more helpful” while maintaining user data privacy and security—part of its broader initiative to simplify everyday browsing.

Smarter Forms, Less Friction

The latest Chrome update expands autofill capabilities to include official identification documents such as passports and driver’s licenses, as well as vehicle details like license plate numbers or VINs. It also improves Chrome’s ability to interpret and complete poorly structured or inconsistent web forms, saving users time spent correcting mismatched fields.

Google emphasized that the feature remains disabled by default and must be manually enabled by the user. Any information added through this tool is encrypted, stored only if the user chooses to save it, and always requires explicit confirmation before use.

The update is being rolled out globally in all languages, with support for additional data types expected in the coming months.
