Google Launches Image-to-Video Feature Powered by Veo 3 in Google Vids

Google LLC is updating its AI-powered video application, Google Vids, to make it easier for teams to generate and edit video content while expanding its capabilities. A new feature includes an image-to-video experience powered by Veo 3, Google’s most advanced video generation model, capable of generating both audio and video simultaneously. Users can input prompts to generate background sounds such as restaurant chatter, birdsong, city traffic, or character dialogue. The model can also produce rich, creative narrative visuals to complement the sound design. “Teams can transform their photos into dynamic eight-second video clips with sound,” Google stated. “This means you can upload product photos or company stock imagery and use text prompts to create on-brand animated video clips with native audio.” In addition to this new feature, Google has introduced AI avatars to help teams create engaging video content. These avatars are lifelike human representations that can deliver scripted messages. Starting today, teams can easily write a script and choose from a range of avatars to deliver their message through Vids. Recently, Google also released noise suppression, background options, filters, and appearance settings similar to those in Google Meet. To further improve audio quality in Vids, Google introduced a feature called “transcript trimming,” which uses AI to remove filler words and awkward pauses such as “um” and “uh” with just a few clicks—eliminating the need for tedious editing. Finally, the company is previewing upcoming Vids features that will allow users to select different video sizes and formats. Teams will be able to create Vids in vertical, horizontal, and square orientations. Google is launching a series called “Vids on Vids” to guide users on how to navigate the app, showcasing all the new features and more. The series covers common video workflows, such as how to use the Vids Studio, how to use AI to plan a video story, and how to engage audiences with animations and transitions. Google also announced that the first version of the Vids editor, without Gemini features, will now be available for free to all consumers. The AI-powered Vids editor will be accessible to subscribers of Business or Enterprise Starter, Google AI Pro or Ultra, and Workplace for Education.
