ChatGPT Adds Meeting Recording Feature and Connectors for Google Drive, Box and More

OpenAI has introduced new capabilities to ChatGPT for commercial users, featuring integrations with multiple cloud services, meeting recording functionality, and support for MCP connections to facilitate linking with tools used for in-depth research.

As part of this update, ChatGPT now includes connectors for Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Google Drive. This enhancement enables ChatGPT to retrieve information within a user's services to address their queries. For instance, analysts can leverage company slides and documents to construct investment arguments.

OpenAI emphasized that the new features will comply with organizational access control hierarchies.

Meeting recording and transcription functionalities have become essential components of productivity suites. These features can create timestamped notes and recommend follow-up actions. Users can query information from meeting notes just as they would with documents and files in integrated services. Additionally, action items can be transformed into Canvas documents using OpenAI’s writing and coding project tools.

This functionality rivals competitive products like ClickUp, Zoom, and more recently Notion, all of which have incorporated some form of transcription and meeting summarization features.

Furthermore, the company is rolling out deep research connectors (beta) for HubSpot, Linear, and certain Microsoft and Google tools. OpenAI stated that users can now prepare comprehensive research reports by leveraging knowledge and data from these sources along with web information through deep research. The connectors are accessible to all paid subscribers.

Customers can also utilize MCP (Model Context Protocol) to connect with other tools designed for deep research. The company confirmed that MCP support will be available to Professional, Team, and Enterprise users.

The addition of these features demonstrates OpenAI's ambition to encourage broader adoption of ChatGPT within enterprise workspaces. The company appears poised for success in this endeavor. While startups such as Notion and Context—backed by Lux Capital—are also developing AI-powered office tools that provide research and analysis capabilities, OpenAI holds a first-mover advantage.

Currently, three million companies have subscribed to its enterprise-focused offerings, surpassing the two million reported by COO Brad Lightcap in February.
