OpenAI CMO Addresses 'Woke AI' Allegations, Cites Co-founder Brockman's $25M MAGA Donation

Kate Ruch, the head of marketing at OpenAI, reaffirmed that some executives within the company support Donald Trump. She responded on X to allegations that OpenAI is a "woke AI" firm with leadership that opposes Trump.

The exchange began when MAGA activist Katie Miller criticized OpenAI's hiring of Ann O'Leary as Vice President of Global Policy. O'Leary previously served as Chief of Staff to California Governor Gavin Newsom and was a key policy advisor during Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. Miller, who is married to Trump senior advisor Stephen Miller, labeled the company as "woke AI" and questioned why its senior leadership appears to be anti-Trump due to this hiring decision.

In her rebuttal, Ruch highlighted her own Republican credentials. She described herself as a "longtime Republican, married to a cattle rancher," residing in Nevada. She also noted that co-founder Greg Brockman and his wife recently donated $25 million to MAGA causes, arguing that "not all OAI executives are anti-Trump liberals."

Miller had previously shared a photo supporting Trump's plan to invade Greenland. The post depicted Greenland's outline overlaid with the American flag, captioned "Soon," which sparked a diplomatic crisis as Greenland belongs to Denmark, and any invasion would constitute an attack on a NATO ally.
