HTC unveils Vive Eagle AI smart glasses to challenge Meta

2025-08-15

HTC Corporation, a global pioneer in immersive technologies, has unveiled a groundbreaking AI-powered wearable eyewear series named Vive Eagle.

These next-generation smart glasses integrate advanced AI capabilities into everyday frames, offering features like voice-activated photography, music streaming, and real-time photo-based translation. The design incorporates built-in camera systems, audio speakers, and directional microphones within a sleek optical frame.

"Vive Eagle represents HTC's latest innovation in smart lifestyle devices," said Charles Huang, Senior Vice President at HTC. "By combining our design excellence with immersive technology expertise, this product transcends traditional eyewear - it's a gateway to a more liberated lifestyle."

The release follows Meta's AI-driven Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses, launched in June with integrated digital assistants. Both Apple and Google are also developing their own AI-enhanced eyewear solutions for the coming year.

Weighing under 49 grams, the Vive Eagle features fully embedded AI processing technology with a battery that supports up to 36 hours of standby time and approximately 4.5 hours of continuous audio playback. Magnetic quick charging enables users to reach 50% battery capacity in just 10 minutes using portable power banks or smartphones.

Equipped with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and multi-AI integration, the glasses connect to leading AI platforms including OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. Users simply need to say "Hey Vive, take a photo" to activate the AI assistant for instant image capture.

The AI assistant supports note-taking, restaurant recommendations, and contextual search results. The device offers real-time translation across 13 languages including English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Japanese, converting visual content to audio without requiring a smartphone.

"We're seeing growing demand for tech products that combine functionality with lifestyle aesthetics," noted James Chang, President of luxury eyewear retailer 2020EYEhaus. "Vive Eagle successfully merges elegant design with practical smart features."

Currently available exclusively in Taiwan, HTC has not yet announced international expansion plans to North America or Europe. Priced at approximately $520, pre-orders begin August 14th and conclude August 31st, with devices shipping starting September 1st.
