Bloomberg has reported that Anthropic is preparing to launch a new feature called "Voice Mode," designed to compete with the similar voice capabilities offered by OpenAI in ChatGPT. This upcoming voice assistant is expected to be integrated into Anthropic's Claude AI chatbot and may begin rolling out gradually within this month.
The report highlights that Anthropic plans to introduce three English voice options, named Airy, Mellow, and Buttery. Earlier, Anthropic’s Chief Product Officer, Mike Krieger, mentioned during an interview with the Financial Times that the company was internally developing voice functionality. He described it as a useful interaction mode and confirmed the existence of related prototypes.
Application researcher M1Astra initially discovered references to Voice Mode within Anthropic's iOS app, which Bloomberg later verified. In response to this news, The Verge reached out to Anthropic for comments but has yet to receive a reply.
Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI employees, has emerged as a key competitor to the creators of ChatGPT. Recently, the company launched a $200 monthly subscription plan targeting “advanced” users and announced on Tuesday a new research-focused AI tool.
