Grok, the chatbot developed by Elon Musk's AI company xAI, has introduced a canvas-like feature for editing and creating documents as well as basic applications.
This feature is named Grok Studio and was announced on the X platform late Tuesday evening. It is available to both free and paid users of Grok.com.
"Grok can now generate documents, code, reports, and browser-based games," stated the official Grok account on X. "Grok Studio opens your content in a separate window, allowing you to collaborate with Grok on your projects."
Grok is the latest chatbot to receive a dedicated workspace for handling software development and writing tasks. OpenAI introduced a similar feature called Canvas for ChatGPT back in October, while Anthropic was among the early adopters with Artifacts for Claude.
Grok Studio appears to be functionally similar to previous canvas tools. It enables you to preview HTML snippets and run code in languages like Python, C++, and JavaScript. All content appears in a right-side window alongside Grok's responses.
Grok Studio has become more practical thanks to another recent upgrade announced today: integration with Google Drive. You can now attach files from your Google Drive account directly to Grok prompts. According to xAI, Grok can process documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
