Akool, a generative AI company, has unveiled its latest innovation called Akool Live Camera, a tool designed to produce high-quality AI-generated videos in real time.
The newest addition to Akool's real-time suite, this tool is capable of creating dynamic and lifelike avatars that can mirror a speaker’s voice, gestures, and micro-expressions without the need for pre-recording.
Unlike other generative AI video tools such as OpenAI's Sora, Akool Live Camera is focused on live interaction. It delivers unscripted, responsive video generation, making it ideal for live streaming, virtual meetings, and augmented reality gaming environments.
Akool positions its live camera as a new category in digital communication: real-time AI video generation. Unlike pre-recorded deepfakes or static overlays, it creates avatars that respond in real time, adjusting language, gestures, and even micro-expressions based on environmental cues. This allows professionals, educators, and content creators to communicate more naturally and dynamically during live events, virtual meetings, and AR gaming sessions.
"Akool Live Camera isn't just about rendering visuals," said founder and CEO Jiajun Lu. "It's about creating adaptive digital presence in real time."
The tool offers features like real-time multilingual translation, face replacement, and AI-driven video dubbing, enabling communication across different languages and cultural backgrounds. It also addresses camera fatigue by allowing users to opt out of appearing on camera while using realistic avatars that react to voice, tone, and feedback.
Akool's technology integrates on-device 4D facial mapping, a neural voice engine, and cloud-based rendering, supporting over four trillion interactive points. This integration enables avatars to deliver nuanced and context-aware performances, adapting to changes in expressions and tone.
"Akool Live Camera doesn’t just redefine communication—it redefines who can represent whom and under what conditions," Lu added. "It challenges assumptions about trust, identity, and existence in digital mediums. Real-time avatars aren't a promise of the future—they are a reality of today."
Akool is a venture-backed startup that has raised $40 million in funding, according to Tracxn. Its investors include G2C Venture Partners, Incubation Fund USA, True Blue Partners, TSV Capital (Los Altos), and Endless Frontier Labs.
