This functionality appears specifically designed to enhance the AI assistant's educational capabilities. Rather than delivering direct solutions, reports indicate it engages users with additional questions that require human responses - a strategy resembling OpenAI's countermeasure against Google's LearnLM. There are also speculations about potential group collaboration modes enabling multiple users to participate in shared study sessions. OpenAI has not responded to our inquiries, but according to ChatGPT itself, "OpenAI has not officially announced when or if 'Study Together' will be made available to all users—or whether it necessitates a ChatGPT Plus subscription."
