Microsoft Bing has unveiled a new feature called Bing Video Creator in its app. This tool leverages OpenAI's Sora model, enabling users to generate videos through text prompts.
OpenAI has maintained a long-standing partnership with Microsoft. Previously, the video generation capability of Sora was only accessible to paying customers. This integration marks the first time it is being offered for free within Microsoft Bing.
At launch, Bing Video Creator is not yet available on desktop. Even with the "fast" mode, video generation might take several hours, despite being designed to complete in just minutes.
All users can create ten video clips for free using the Bing app after logging into their Microsoft account. After that, users will need to pay 100 Microsoft Reward points per video. These points can be earned by using Bing Search or shopping at the Microsoft Store — for instance, each PC search on Bing earns 5 points, with a daily cap of 150 points.
Users can queue up three five-second videos at once — currently, adjusting the video length isn't possible. At present, videos are generated exclusively in a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio, likely aimed at facilitating shares on TikTok or Instagram. However, horizontal 9:16 uploads will soon become available.
